COURSE OUTLINE
The CSP Roasting Foundation course introduces the basics of coffee roasting, including heat transfer principles, the stages of the roast process, and key milestones like first crack. Participants learn about the physical changes in beans, such as color, size, and weight loss, as well as how to identify common roast defects. The course also covers basic roasting equipment, safety practices, and how to record and understand simple roast profiles, laying the groundwork for consistent, quality roasting.
